CHSR Mini-Review – Forward Music Group Music Sampler 2013<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The Forward Music Group label has released some of the ‘best of the best’ East Coast music since 2006. The Olympic Symphonium, Snail House, Gypsophilia, Gianna Lauren, and Paper Beat Scissors are some of the acts on Forward Music Group’s roster. The impressive line-up presents a diverse range of musical styles and genres while remaining true to the labels definable sound that happens to celebrate regional identity. The jazzy theatricality and high energy of Gyposphilia somehow manages to fit nicely with Snail House’s Michael Feuerstack minimalist folk-rock. Gianna Lauren’s angelic vocals is soothing, while being subversively playful in a devilishly self-reflexive tone. Paper Beat Scissors warm, albeit short, folk chamber pop number does not feel out of place when juxtaposed against the traditional stylings of Alan Jeffries regional flair. The stand out track for me is the Olympic Symphnonium track State of the Union Address<\/i> which has been remixed (reinterpreted) by an unknown hip hop act \u2013 it is staggeringly brilliant. If this is an accurate indication of what to expect from the Forward Music Group in 2013, music fans are in for a hell of run of releases. The artists on the label manage a subtle regional identity in their music while providing an individuality that is each their own. Have a listen.<\/p>\n
