Do you think, &#8220;They play an instrument, either solo or in a band, in a particular genre?&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Because that would be only true in a few cases, if my experience is anything to go by!<\/p>\n<p>Most of the musicians I&#8217;ve met &#8212; admittedly, from the indie scene in the Maritimes &#8212; specialize in one thing, pretty consistently: <em>not specializing<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, they might be best known as the guitarist in a folk band &#8212; but also play in a metal band. Or play solo rock ballads. Or have an electronic dance band on the side.<\/p>\n<p>The interview on the show today is exactly that. Brydon Crane &#8212; often associated with his other work &#8212; has another identity, that of <em>Sam Salmon<\/em>.
