\"LunchBox-2016ArtistsInResidence-NatalieSappier-NateMiller\"<\/a>To make music is to combine the heart, the mind and the body in a singular expression — even if more than one person is involved.<\/em><\/p>\n

During the summer, the Fredericton Arts Alliance<\/strong><\/a> brings a pair of artists together in the Barracks to practice their art for all to see. These artists come from a wide variety of disciplines, from painting and sculpture to basket-weaving and writing. As each pair of artists comes in, we’ll be talking to them on the Lunchbox.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My guests today are Natalie Sappier<\/strong><\/a> and Nate Miller<\/strong><\/a>. Natalie is known as a painter and artist, and Nate is known for new-age music, but together they are making music of another kind. They are spending two weeks in the Barracks as Artists-in-Residence collaborating on compositions with guitar, percussion, voice and keyboards. I spoke to them together about what they are looking forward to creating over this next couple of weeks, what creating music together is like for two solo artists, and what opportunities are presented to go from blank slate to finished product in the public “zoo” at the Barracks.<\/p>\n

I played two piece of music from Nate’s existing catalog as Emanate 7<\/strong><\/a>, which features Natalie on vocals: Floating<\/em> and Oceans<\/em>.<\/p>\n
