\"A<\/a>Two weeks before the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick will pick a new leader, the party lost one of its more outspoken, high-profile members.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jim Parrott died last Tuesday, Oct. 5 in Saint John. He died at the age of 74.<\/p>\n

Parrott was a pioneer in medicine who later went into politics and never shied away from controversy.<\/p>\n

That would eventually cost him his spot in the Tory caucus, but he got it back from former premier David Alward right before the 2014 election, in which he lost.<\/p>\n

Party officials have said Parrott would have been at the leadership convention on October 22 in Fredericton to help the party pick a leader for the 2018 provincial election.<\/p>\n
