You can keep it, thanks.<\/li>\n<li>Tonight is\u00a0<strong>Haunted Refrigerator Night<\/strong> &#8211; so banish those undead leftovers!<\/li>\n<li>Of course, <strong>Saturday<\/strong> is\u00a0<strong>Halloween<\/strong>, but it&#8217;s also more generally\u00a0<strong>Magic Day<\/strong>. So, if you see things that don&#8217;t seem real, it might just be magic!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t forget to turn your clocks back this weekend, early Sunday morning at 2am<\/strong><strong>!<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In addition to being the beginning of <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.movember.com\/\"><strong>Movember<\/strong> <\/a>and\u00a0<strong>Dia de los Muertos<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sunday\u00a0<\/strong>is also the start of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nanowrimo.org\/\"><strong>NaNoWriMo<\/strong><\/a>, so get those pencils, pens or keyboards ready to receive your stories. Write! Write! Write!<\/li>\n<li><strong>CONGRATULATIONS TO CHSR&#8217;S OWN ERIN BOND!\u00a0<\/strong>Erin was recognized at\u00a0<strong>Prix MusicNB Awards\u00a0<\/strong>as the\u00a0<strong>HARDEST WORKING PERSON OF THE YEAR<\/strong> for 2020! The ongoing celebration continues with Bondo&#8217;s Pick of <a href=\"https:\/\/youngsataninlove.bandcamp.com\/\"><b>Young Satan In Love<\/b>&#8216;s<\/a> song\u00a0<em>Roar For War<\/em>. In keeping with the Halloween theme, I\u00a0<em>also<\/em> chose a song by\u00a0<strong>Young Satan In Love<\/strong> from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chsr979.bandcamp.com\/album\/postponed-the-mixtape\"><strong>Postponed: A Mixtape<\/strong><\/a> album that Bondo helped bring into fruition this year. That album features many great artists from across the province, and for YSIL it was\u00a0<em>Datin&#8217; Satan<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Feature presentation:<\/h3>\n<p>Today is also\u00a0<strong>World Audio Drama Day<\/strong>, celebrating the anniversary of one of the most famous live radio theatre productions ever made: the infamous\u00a0<em>War of the Worlds<\/em> production done by Orson Welles in 1938. That coincidence inspired me enough to finish work on my own audio drama, just in time for Halloween!<\/p>\n<p>I <em>love<\/em> audio drama, especially the style that was done during the golden age, often referred to as \u201cold-time-radio\u201d today. It was bombastic, over-the-top and amazing. It challenged your imagination, it was clever and evocative, it was enthralling.<\/p>\n<p>Today, there is a thriving culture of audio drama. Here on the station, we carry one of the pre-eminent collections of it, <a href=\"https:\/\/sonicsociety.org\/\"><strong>The Sonic Society<\/strong><\/a>, which has grown to become the much larger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mutualaudionetwork.com\/\"><strong>Mutual Audio Network<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This summer, there was to be a large convention called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mad-con.com\/\"><strong>MADCon<\/strong><\/a>, or the Modern Audio Drama Convention, in Halifax. For obvious reasons, this has been postponed until next summer. I\u2019m looking forward to that, not least of which because now I can say I\u2019m truly a producer, and not just a participant and fan.<\/p>\n<p>Over a year ago, I was challenged to do a remake of an Old Time Radio show by Jack Ward of the Mutual Audio Network. Last summer, I gathered a bunch of interested people together, we wrote a brand new script, recorded it, and then&#8230; I lost my editor.<\/p>\n<p>I took on the editing myself &#8212; which I&#8217;ve done before, but I knew I didn&#8217;t really have the time. I had intended to get it out by Halloween of 2019, and it just didn&#8217;t happen.<\/p>\n<p>A bit discouraged, I let the edits sit where they were for almost a year. But&#8230;\u00a0I finished it satisfactorily last night! This theatre festival\u00a0aims to foster LGBTQ2+ talent and visibility.
