On Monday, February 24, 2025, University of New Brunswick President Paul Mazerolle signed Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Higher Education. The Charter was created in collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and various community stakeholders at the University of Toronto, Scarborough, between 2020 and 2022. Over sixty other Canadian universities have signed the charter. Joanne Owour, the Advocacy and Education Officer in UNB\u2019s Human Rights and Equity Office explained the history of the charter and how it is intended to encourage accountability and future actions from UNB in regards to anti-Black racism.<\/p>\n
