Last night quite a few CHSR members and myself went to the (@FredTweetUp)<\/a>\u00a0Fredericton TweetUp<\/span> that was held at the (@FredFarmMarket)<\/a>\u00a0Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market<\/a>. \u00a0What’s a tweetup you ask? \u00a0A tweetup is the actual face-to-face meeting of Twitter users.\u00a0Tweetups are a chance for users to meet in real life and convert 140 character engagements or conversations into actual lengthy exchanges.<\/p>\n

This was my second tweetup ever, both of which were in Fredericton, I read on twitter last night that this has been going on for three years running. \u00a0I had a blast and I think almost everyone that was there did too. \u00a0I’m relatively new to Fredericton, I’ve only been here since August 2011 so a lot of local things everyone knows about are new to me.<\/p>\n

While I love the Market (both) and have been known to go once a month or so, I got to sample a lot of things that are staples of the market but I haven’t seen there yet. \u00a0Personally, the Market is a sensory overload for me, so many things to see and filled with so many people I can’t take my time to see it all. \u00a0I got to sample\u00a0@Magzys<\/a>\u00a0smashed Lemon and Lime aid, which was so good, I lost count at how many I had, as a DD it was nice to have a treat.\u00a0@TheHotLollies<\/a>\u00a0were handing out chocolate covered cheese cake, that was amazing. The Frosted Cupcake had small cupcakes which were very good, and I say that as a baker myself. \u00a0Family Favourites\u00a0were the ones with the red pepper jam on gouda and raspberry jalapeno jam on brie, which were quite tasty. \u00a0The Bundles that were being passed around were amazing, they were offered by The Bundle Hut and\u00a0I plan to return for more. \u00a0There were sausages that were being passed around by @ChickadeeLarder<\/a>\u00a0(mustard) & Hans the German (sausage) that my friends just loved, and the Nut Hut had these great candied nuts.<\/p>\n

I’m told by others that the bar prices were more than decent. \u00a0There was extra food available for purchase, and drinks like soda.<\/p>\n

There were some old favorites of mine being represented too, A Taste of Greek’s meat and yogurt sauce, the fish chowder being passed around by\u00a0John Henry\u2019s, it’s a blue food truck by temptation ally,\u00a0I’ve bought it a time or two before.<\/p>\n

With (@nuchtchas<\/a>)\u00a0me\u00a0was @encaf1<\/a> the Program Director of CHSR, @Dr4Physics<\/a> Adam, host of Fredericton This Week & The Cutting Room Floor,\u00a0@the_clock_doc<\/a> Fred who volunteers in the tech department, we also saw members @JaclynReinhart<\/a> & @missjackiec<\/a> and there may have been more, but it really was a packed house. \u00a0I personally followed six new local people, and quite a few vendors from the market as well as the band.<\/p>\n

Let’s talk about the band. \u00a0Pretty In Pink (@80sPrettyInPink<\/a>)\u00a0played the tweet up, and I had never heard them before. \u00a0They are amazing. \u00a0Pretty in Pink is an 80’s cover band, but they have the ability to perform Madonna, Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, and Freddy Mercury without losing the tone of each song. \u00a0Throw in their songs from Rick Springfield, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Bon Jovi, and everything else they played, and still every song was dead on. \u00a0They had the spirit of the songs and the talent of every musician up there was impressive. \u00a0I’m a metal chick and I was dancing like a fool, tweeting and dancing that is. \u00a0I know that if I see Pretty in Pink listed as playing another event in Fredericton, I will be sure to go.<\/p>\n

All in all it was a great night. \u00a0It was 300% better than my last tweetup which was still a 9\/10. \u00a0Last night was fun because the location made it easy to mingle and walk around and the entertainment kept the energy level up. \u00a0Not to mention the samples going around, I know for sure I will be frequenting all of these vendors in the near future. \u00a0I can’t wait for the next tweetup!<\/p>\n
