{"id":215,"date":"2011-02-06T00:06:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-06T00:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chsrfm.ca\/blog\/"},"modified":"2011-02-11T21:53:53","modified_gmt":"2011-02-11T21:53:53","slug":"employment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/chsrfm.ca\/blog\/about\/member-section\/employment","title":{"rendered":"Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Employment Policies<\/h1>\n<h2>POLICY CONCERNING PAID HOLIDAYS FOR EMPLOYEES OF CHSR BROADCASTING, INC.<\/h2>\n<p>CHSR Broadcasting, Inc recognizes the following as holidays:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>News Years Day<\/li>\n<li>Remembrance Day (except if it falls on a Saturday or Sunday)<\/li>\n<li>Good Friday<\/li>\n<li>Easter Monday<\/li>\n<li>Christmas Eve<\/li>\n<li>Victoria Day<\/li>\n<li>Christmas Day<\/li>\n<li>Canada Day<\/li>\n<li>Boxing Day<\/li>\n<li>New Brunswick Day<\/li>\n<li>New Years Eve<\/li>\n<li>Labour Day<\/li>\n<li>Thanksgiving Day<\/li>\n<li>and any other day proclaimed as a New Brunswick or Canadian Holiday<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, a week day shall be designated as the Holiday, normally being the Friday preceding of the Monday following the holiday. Employees will be advised of the holiday schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Employees shall be paid a normal day&#8217;s pay for any holiday which falls on a normal work day.<br \/>\nAn employee who is required to work on a holiday shall be entitled to take any other normal working day as the holiday.<\/p>\n<p>An employee is eligible for a holiday with pay provided that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> a) s\/he has earned wages for part or all of at least fifteen (16) days in the thirty (30) calendar day period preceding the holiday.<\/li>\n<li>b) s\/he has not been absent from work without the employer&#8217;s consent on the regular working day immediately preceding or following the holiday.<\/li>\n<li>c) s\/he has not, prior to the day of the holiday, voluntarily terminated his or her employment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where the wages of an employee vary from day to day, his or her holiday shall be at least equivalent to his or her average daily earnings, exclusive of overtime, for the days worked during the thirty calendar days preceding the holiday, but the holiday shall not serve to increase such average daily earnings.<\/p>\n<h2>POLICY CONCERNING LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR EMPLOYEES OF CHSR BROADCASTING, INC.<\/h2>\n<p>An employee may be granted a leave of absence with pay of up to four(4) days in the event of a death in the immediate family.<\/p>\n<p>In special circumstances, additional time may be granted for travel time.<\/p>\n<p>An employee may be granted a leave of absence with pay of up to one (1) working day when the employee is prevented from reporting to work because of circumstances beyond his or her control (i.e. extreme weather conditions).<\/p>\n<p>An employee who is required to serve as a juror or to attend court as a witness shall be paid the difference between his or her average earnings and the payment s\/he receives for such service.<\/p>\n<p>An employee who is to be a degree recipient, or who has an immediate family member receiving a degree or diploma, may be allowed one half (1\/2) day off work with pay to attend the degree awarding ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>A male employee may be granted paternity or adoption leave with pay of up to one (1) day on the occasion of the birth or adoption of the child.<\/p>\n<p>Other forms of leave with pay may, in special circumstances, be approved by the Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>The Corporation may, under certain circumstances, approve a leave of absence without pay. Such leaves will normally be of short duration. During such leaves, arrangements may be made with UNB concerning retention of insured benefits.<\/p>\n<h2>POLICY CONCERNING SALARY ADMINISTRATION FOR EMPLOYEES OF CHSR BROADCASTING, INC.<\/h2>\n<p>Salary Ranges shall be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors, usually in March or April.<\/p>\n<p>An employee&#8217;s salary within the range of his or her position shall be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors, with any increase resulting from the review becoming effective on or about the employee&#8217;s Anniversary Date.<\/p>\n<p>An employee&#8217;s salary may also change as a result of promotion, an increase in job skills required by the employee, or a change in the assigned duties of the employee. In each case the Board of Directors shall review the appropriate factors and decide upon the size and commencement date of the salary change.<\/p>\n<p>When the salary range for a position is adjusted, the salary of the employee(s) in that position will be adjusted to a figure proportionally similar to the salary under the previous range. When an employee&#8217;s salary is adjusted within the range for his or her position, an increase will be limited to 5% of salary, unless that amount would exceed the salary range for that position, in which case the salary would be increased to the maximum of the salary range.<\/p>\n<p>Each employee will have a Job Description for his or her position, which will require the approval of the Board of Directors.
