\"\"<\/a>The Winter season of Theatre UNB begins on\u00a0February 4\u00a0<\/strong>but, given the pandemic, is going to be another opportunity to see live theatre while sitting comfortably at home.<\/p>\n

“Grand Poobah of Theatre” (and Director of Theatre at UNB Fredericton)\u00a0Len Falkenstein<\/strong> along with actors Joshua Burke<\/strong> and\u00a0Amanda Thorne<\/strong> join me to talk about one of two productions for this year, Kat Sandler’s\u00a0Punch Up<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In Punch Up<\/em>, Duncan meets Brenda as she is about to commit suicide and strikes a deal with her: if he can make her laugh, she won\u2019t kill herself. But Duncan isn\u2019t funny, so he kidnaps washed up comedian Pat Wallace to punch up his material. Will this truly odd couple be able to come up with a routine funny enough to stave off Brenda\u2019s date with destiny?<\/p>\n

Featuring performances from: Scott Shannon, Joshua Burke, and Amanda Thorne.<\/p>\n

Both plays are directed by Len Falkenstein, with production design by Trent Logan. Both shows will feature original scoring by Devin Rockwell.<\/p>\n

Punch Up<\/em> and\u00a0Into\u00a0<\/em>are being staged at Memorial Hall on UNB Fredericton Campus and live streamed for everyone to watch at home From February 4-6 and February 9-13, 7:30pm nightly.\u00a0Note that the dates have slightly changed from the originals, as discussed in the interview.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Punch Up<\/em>\u00a0will run on February 5, 9, 11, 13 and Into<\/em> on February 4, 6, 10, 12.<\/p>\n

Tickets for each show are $5 student, $8 senior\/underemployed, $10 regular. They are also offering a bundle deal at $8 student, $10 senior\/underemployed, $15 regular, to see both shows. Get your tickets at EventBrite.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
