It doesn’t take much looking around to realize that we haven’t achieved the stability, safety and forward-thinking we need as a society to make the world what it should be. But by looking around, we may find some examples of what could be.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

My guest today is activist and filmmaker Jim Merkel<\/strong>, who’s recent documentary is called Saving Walden’s World<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. This film came about when he asked himself the question: “How can I save the world for my son?”, and was answered by travelling around the world to places where sustainable lives were being lived, particularly to places that were portrayed to him as negative, backward or worse. What he discovered was, among other things, empowerment of women lead to more sustainable outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He joins me to talk about his discoveries, his motivations and his film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saving Walden’s World<\/em> is being screened on May 29 <\/strong>at 6:30pm<\/strong> in Room 102<\/strong> of Tilley Hall<\/strong> on UNB Fredericton campus, with Jim in attendance to take questions and discuss further.<\/p>\n
