In a brief meeting of Fredericton City Council Tuesday night, councilors voted in favor of a highway usage permit for the construction of a new non-motorized boat launch.<\/span><\/p>\n

The city recently launched the River Access Initiative back in May, which aims to create <\/span>a stronger network for these activities in the Lower Saint John River Valley Region, which contains almost 200 km of usable routes.<\/p>\n

This newest launch site is along the Nashwaak River where the Penniac Bridge used to run across before it was torn down in the Summer of 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

The permit for the new site will run 10 years less a day, beginning retroactively from April 1st of this year to March 31st, 2034. With construction expected to begin in shortly.<\/span><\/p>\n
