The most important features of all research is knowledge and information, and consistent, clear and easy opportunities to get at them benefit everyone.
My guests today were Lesley Balcom (Dean, UNB Libraries) and Joanne Smythe (Director, UNB Collections and Scholarly Communication). They provided some of the context and history around the issue of access to scholarly works, from enabling researchers in both education and public settings to be able to read works, as well as making it easier for UNB researchers to share their publications and data. We also talked about the upcoming proposed expansion and clarification to the existing Open Access Research Policies being presented later this month to the UNB Senate.
