Friday brought with it plenty of great music and theatre combined, as well as community-minded groups. First, Roger Jean — beautifully and purply-coifed as “Rosie” — dropped by to tell me about tonight’s rockin’ charity show presented by wrestlers from XWA Pro Wrestling, local comedians and hard rockin’ bands called XWA Brain Bash. That’s happening at the Playhouse at 7pm tonight, and features Kickin’ Krotch, Chemical Misuse and Ember Atom — don’t miss it, as the proceeds go to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada!
Second, I recorded an interview with Katey Day, musician, artist and creator of a brand-new production: Deception: A Rock Opera. This show will reach Fredericton on May 24, but early-bird tickets are on sale until March 15. We talk about the collaborative and community based art, a 15-year path to the creation of this production, and how everybody’s secrets come free in Deception.
