When you hear about a musician, what do you think? Do you think, “They play an instrument, either solo or in a band, in a particular genre?”?
Because that would be only true in a few cases, if my experience is anything to go by!
Most of the musicians I’ve met — admittedly, from the indie scene in the Maritimes — specialize in one thing, pretty consistently: not specializing.
Sure, they might be best known as the guitarist in a folk band — but also play in a metal band. Or play solo rock ballads. Or have an electronic dance band on the side.
The interview on the show today is exactly that. Brydon Crane — often associated with his other work — has another identity, that of Sam Salmon. Bondo sat down with him to talk about what his new project means to him, and that interview is featured on today’s show.
Music on the show:
- Gallows Humour by Little Wild, from their Victories album;
- Caribou, from their album Our Love, with the song Back Home.
