Happy New Year from Steve ‘The Buzz Man’ and myself. I hope you all had a Merry and Metal Holiday Season!

We kicked off 2016 on the Crazy Train with a somber note and a special episode dedicated to the Legendary Lemmy Kilmister who passed away December 28th 2015, just two days after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Lemmy of course famously known for his gravely voice, thundering bass guitar in Motorhead, but we dove further back in Lemmy’s life, waaay back to the 1960’s where we started the show with tracks from not Lemmy’s first band but the band that certainly got him started off on his road to Rock’n’Roll insanity. Lemmy played guitar in the ‘Rocking Vickers’ a very Beatlesque type band. After leaving the Vickers and touring with Jimmy Hendrix (as a roadie), Lemmy’s next musical venture was playing bass for the first ‘Space’ Prog Rock outfit ‘Hawkwind’. Fueled by hallucinogens, speed and other assorted drugs of the 70’s, Lemmy toured with Hawkwind for several albums until one fateful day as the band Hawkwind was crossing the U.S. / Canadian border, Lemmy was arrested for drug possession and thrown in the clink! While in jail, the band who were growing further apart from Lemmy, due to his choice of drugs not being the ‘shrooms and acid they took, but Lemmy was into speed and amphetamines, so they fired Lemmy, leaving him in Toronto to fend for himself.

After being axed from ‘Hawkwind’ Lemmy said he’d never be fired from a band again and formed ‘Motorhead’ and the rest is history!

So we played 3 ‘Rocking Vickers’ tracks, 3 ‘Hawkwind’ tracks, then 3 ‘Head Cat’ tracks. The ‘Head Cat’ was a band started by members of the ‘Stray Cats’ and had a revolving door of musicians throughout many years. Lemmy and Foo Fighter’s frontman Dave Grohl played on a ‘Head Cat’ album, so we played 3 cuts from that before turning over the rest of the show completely to ‘Motorhead’… Well except for one more track by ‘Probot’ -Dave Grohl’s one album project.

Playlist for Episode #70:

Ace Of Spades – Motorhead|| Shake Rattle & Roll, Walking & Talking, Go Ape – The Rocking Vickers|| You Know You Are Only Dreaming, Master Of The Universe, Silver Machine – Hawkwind|| American Beat, Bad Boy, Let It Rock – The Head Cat|| Chase is Better Than The Catch, Speed Freak, Damage Case, I’m So Bad (Baby I Don’t Care), Iron Fist, Bomber, No Remorse, Jail Bait, Eat The Rich, Rock’N’Roll, Sacrifice, Orgasmatron, The Hammer, Overkill, Deaf Forever – Motorhead|| Shake Your Blood – Probot.
