You’re facing down the giant, nothing more than your dagger at your side. You declare “I’m going to use the dagger like a piton and climb up the giant, aiming at his head!” The GM smirks and says, “Uh.. no!” You deflate and slink back into your chair.
Today, we’re going to talk about the Rule of Cool. There are a lot of “golden rule” and “rule 0” suggestions, but this belongs near the top of the list: the desire for the GM — and the other players — to make everything each of the characters do seem as awesome as the best movies, books and videogames you’ve ever seen.
