The recipients of the 2024 New Brunswick Human Rights Awards were honoured during a ceremony at Government House on Friday.
17-year-old Fredericton High School student Merrit Johnson received the Youth Human Rights Award for her work as a queer community advocate, mainly through her work as executive committee president for FHS’s GSA.
Johnny James spoke with Johnson to get her reaction, ask about her work and to get her thoughts on a number of key issues facing the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
