Lego is back with an all-new installment of the Star Wars franchise, creating Lego Star Wars the Force Awakens. Does this particular installment conquer with the resistance or does it get beaten by the first order let’s find out?
Going into this game, I had no idea what to expect because I had never really played a Lego Star Wars game before. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised in how much fun I was having.
The game began with me taking on the role of Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker in the battle of Endor. From there you progress through the story of the seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise. In the Force Awakens, you will play through Ten, epic chapters of non-stop action, puzzle solving, platforming fun. All the way from the Assault on Jakku to the Epilogue of Lukes island. Playing as characters from the franchise we all know and love and some new ones who we have grown to love.
Now the gameplay in this game is something that threw me off course because of Lego games I have seen before. It is an action adventure/ third person cover shooter, Which is great because we see all these genres of games coming together in this one game. When I started to be able to fly in the millennium falcon and dog fighting I lost my mind in excitement. Going around shooting, hitting enemies of the first order and watching them fall apart into pieces is very satisfying. Now as far as puzzles go the majority of them are quite easy but as I progressed through the story of the game I found them to become more challenging there were two or three puzzles that took me about fifteen minutes to figure out. While you are doing these puzzles you have to switch between characters a lot because certain characters that have certain specialties; which is why this game is more fun if you have someone to co-op this game with.
Lego Star Wars is a game that is fun and exhilarating with over 100 collectibles it gives you all the more reason to go back and play it all over again to get more of the collectibles that you missed on your first playthrough because you needed a certain character for. With great gameplay mechanics and great dialogue and some comedy that even an adult will have a great appreciation for. Lego Star Wars the Force Awakens is definitely worth the pickup.
Lego Star Wars the Force Awakens gets a 7.5 out of 10
