Songs sometimes have the ability to reach across generations, between individuals and between cultures.
My guest today is Samaqani Cocahq, a storyteller who shares and expresses her Indigenous life through music, words and performance. She joins me to discuss an upcoming TNB presentation of Songs from Finding Wolastoq Voice, an upcoming performance alongside Sisters of the Drum and Dawson Sacobie. She joins me to talk about where the songs come from and what they mean to her, as well as adapting them to welcome her co-performers.
Songs from Finding Wolastoq Voice runs from November 7 through November 10 at TNB’s Open Space Theare.
