Good art presents you with something you can interpret. Great art presents contradictions and challenges you to understand not only the art, but yourself.
My guest today is Maria Martais, the Director of the UNB Art Centre. The Centre has two galleries located in the beautiful Memorial Hall on UNB campus, and are frequently featuring great exhibits of meaningful work. On Friday, March 2, the Centre is opening up a new exhibit of photographic works by Edward Burtynsky called “A Terrible Beauty”. In conjunction with the exhibition opening is the beginning of a new music accompaniment series called “FLOW”. Maria joins me to talk about the challenging and fascinating contradictions that will be on display and heard for this exhibition.
“A Terrible Beauty” and “FLOW” both open on Friday, March 2 at 5pm at the UNB Arts Centre, located in Memorial Hall at 9 Bailey Drive on UNB. “A Terrible Beauty” is on display until early April.
