It’s a very familiar story for Maritimers: folks go away — out West or to the States or otherwise — but something draws them back home to the East Coast, if only for a little while. Everything is familiar, and yet not quite, like a sweater that’s stretched in the washing machine..
This is the general feeling I get from talking to Thomas Morgan Jones (the Artistic Director of TNB) about the next play that TNB is staging at The Playhouse: Marion Bridge, by Daniel MacIver. He joins me by phone during his lunch break in the play’s rehearsal to talk about how this play attracted him decades ago, and why he felt he needed to stage it.
Music today:
- We either heard the title track or Woo Hoo by Tami Neilson, from her album Dynamite! Either way, it was awesome.
- There are beautiful and clever lyrics in Lie Beside You by Steph MacPherson from Stones.
- And because you might not hear him tonight because of the storm (or even if you do!), here’s a bit from Stephen Lewis off Life’s A Garden called Morning Glow.
