Music is alive in well in New Brunswick!
Sure, it’s tempting to think of “New Brunswick music” as “traditional music”, but the reality is that we produce awesome music across the spectrum, from electronic and techno to metal to rock to country — and yeah, some great traditional folk music as well.
The MusicNB organization exists in part to help grow all this music and help the performers share it with the world — as well as celebrate it. They had their AGM on the weekend, and CHSR’s very own Erin “Bondo” Bond is on the MusicNB board. She joins me today to share news of the events on the weekend and the new, expanded and rebranded “Festival 506” concept.
Music today:
- The weather is very NB June — whether or not we choose to acknowledge it. First up is Real June by Montreal band Seoul, take from their album I Became A Shade.
- To celebrate local music (and to contrast the rain-soaked landscape), we heard Solid Ground from local artist Jessy Ashfield‘s album What We Leave Behind.
