New Brunswick is lucky to be surrounded and filled with great lakes, rivers and ocean sides where many people enjoy getting out in boats, swimming or water-skiing. But part of having fun is being safe, because while it can be a bit awkward to wear a life jacket or personal floatation device (PFD) the first time, it’s more tragic to lose someone in an accident.
Emily, Danielle and Danika dropped by to tell us about the PFD Loan Program, a joint program between The Red Cross and Transport Canada aimed at promoting water safety by letting people borrow a safety device for their activities. We also talk about water safety in general (including the 1-10-1 rule), the difference between a life jacket and a PFD, and programs to teach kids about getting used to water safety.
