BattleField 1 is flying in close with guns blazing, The World War 1 is set to release on October 21st on the ps4 and Xbox One and PC.
Battlefield 1 was revealed to the gaming community back in May, there was speculation before the reveal that Battlefield would take place during World War 1. It was not until the reveal that this was confirmed , it was like a breath of fresh air when it came to the first person genre. We have never seen a World War 1 game done to this scale before and it’s very exciting to see this kind of game come out in this day and age.
Dice went that extra mile to capture that reality of the first World War, from the trench warfare to the extremely dirty and muddy battlefields. Many new weapons came into play during this time period such as infantry rifles (German Mauser, British Lee-Enfield, French Lebel, French Berthier). It was not just about the guns that made advancements, the grenade, the mortar and the machine gun took big roles on the battlefield in the four years that the war took place.
During the campaign of Battlefield 1, you will take on the role of six different characters who have their own personal stories and experiences during the war. This explains why there are only six campaign missions, which is really unfortunate in this case because it makes me feel like they copped out on the campaign and for me, that is the highlight of the Battlefield franchise. During the campaign, however, I am hoping to see some classic battles like Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele.
For most people, it’s all about the multiplayer playing different modes alongside your friends online, fighting against other teams with people all across the world leveling up with each kill you get, working with your team to come out with the victory to unlock better weapons and gear etc. The multiplayer in Battlefield seems to be the main focus DICE and EA which is unfortunate because, people who buy it for the single player are getting the short end of the stick.
Hoping this game will shine a little bit of light on the education aspect for the younger generation, for those who do not know much or anything about the first world war. It may not give a huge history lesson, but it will give some insight of how rough the conditions were, the advancement of weapons, chemical warfare and trench warfare.
BattleField 1 is hitting store Shelves on October 21st on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
