Fredericton’s Harvest Music Festival opened last night with a celebration of indigenous music called Kulasihkulpa! which featured Judie Acquin, The Muskrat Singers, Dee Dee Austin and local grass dancers.
The opening ceremonies was the festival’s second opening ceremony featuring a heavy spotlight on indigenous artists.
Johnny James was at the event and spoke to Wolastoq Grand Chief Ron Tremblay about the significance of the event to the city’s indigenous community.
