The Lunchbox: Random Acts of Kindness (For Yourself & Others)

Posted on 2015-02-17 by encaf1 Posted in The Lunchbox

LunchBox-DAY-2-TUESDAYToday, it is suggested that we take two contradictory ideas and put them together: do things for others, and do them for ourselves as well.

Pick some things that you want to do, and do them. Then pick a few things you can do for others, and do those. Assert yourself, but remember others. Act selfishly once and a while, but don’t act only for yourself all the time.

Balance, it seems, is the objective, and the third holiday rings it true: Human Spirit Day. Live more than just a job or a duty: live a life. Be someone.

Music today:

  • I’d love to give you everything, including the certainty of the weather, but it’s Not Mine To Give (Samantha Savage Smith from the album Fine Lines);
  • And if we Move Together, we can accomplish great things (Shaun LeBlanc, Kaleidoscope).

In The Know Episode 7

Posted on 2015-02-15 by Joseph Keefe Posted in In The Know

In the Know.jpgFast food is on a lot of peoples minds or stomachs these days, whether it be buying your kid a happy meal to avoid an “unhappy” meal at home, or cutting back on those delicious McDonald’s french fries to lose those stubborn “flabdominal’ muscles that just wont to go away. This episode of The Know is the “Sodium Explodium” forum. We talk about the health risks associated with fast food beyond “ALL THE ANSWERS” you hear from all those experts on other shows. The core issues regarding over-consumption of those tasty Whoppers are exposed, and of course, CBC news articles are referenced.

Michael D. Fryer, a biologist and physiologist from Waterloo University is interviewed, and ironically, he sounds like the nerdy scientist of the Simpsons, a hilarious but serious conversation! There is going to be both laughing and concern after you listen to this one. Those commercials that we need to get on This Hour Has 22 Minutes for me and the cast and crew to act out to give them a desperately needed ratings boost are included, and a parody song so unique and captivating, you’ll be asking questions about the nutrition facts at KFC instead of reading all the answers in the ‘approved fine print’ they give you.

Enjoy, uh!!!!!!
