Music is an art. Sure, there are plenty of rules that have been constructed around ways to create it, but part of the beauty of art is that it often transcends those rules — sometimes only slightly, other times enough to complete redefine the rules.
My guest today is Sarah Beth Shiplett with UNB’s Music On The Hill. She’s here to talk about two upcoming music performances this week, both of which break some rules to some degree: the transposed music for two classical guitars of Chromaduo (coming up on Wednesday night at 7:30pm) and the very avant-garde performance of La Lontananza Nostalgica Utopica Futura (on Saturday night at 9:30pm. (Both performances are at Memorial Hall, 9 Bailey Hall, UNB campus, Fredericton.)
Music today:
- We start with a Fiddler’s Brawl, as performed by The Regal Beagle Band from their album … In Days Past;
- Staying with a bit of a country vibe, we hear the classic-style Whitney Rose with the song Little Piece of You from the album Heartbreaker of the Year;
- And, rapidly running out of time, we hear a little bit of When The Cows Come Home by Rattlesnake Choir off of The Prospector’s Curse.
