Sometimes it feels like life is half about living, and the other half about living with regrets about the first half.. So: go plant something! 🙂
My first guest today is writer/director Gia Milani, whose debut feature All The Wrong Reasons won the Grolsch Film Works Discovery Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film is screening this evening on campus at Tilley Hall room 102 at 7pm sharp — free for students. We talked about how the film came about, the process of being both the writer and the director, and ongoing concerns about the limits to women entering the film industry.
My second guest is Madeleine Berrevoets, co-chair with the NB Community Harvest Gardens. They’re having an event this weekend called Bring On Spring — something we can all appreciate. We talk about the work of the NBCHG (from the seed bank to the community plots to workshops) as well as the work of those who join the gardens and plant their own, and a bit about the Sustainable Garden Expo event this weekend (Saturday from 1pm to 4pm at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 780 McEvoy Street) where you can meet with many different food-production organizations and people.
Music today:
- In honour of the lazy snow accumulating, I played The Drift from The East Pointers from their album Secret Victory.
- To carry us from one interview to the next, we heard the title track from Weird Waves by Minotaurs.
- And with only a minute to spare, I fit in just a little tease of The Meds, with their song about Spring (not really): Be Right Back, from the album South America.
