Some people discover their talents and their passions late in life, after searching. Others are practically born into it.
My guests today are in the latter category. Friends since kindergarden, bandmates for 8 years, Matt and Mike are two members of the Montreal pop/rock/reggae band Made Them Lions. They’re planning a cross-country tour this year following the release of their second CD, and stopped in to talk about the past, present and future of the group.
(As an aside: I asked a clumsy question comparing them to a “boy band”. It was meant more to highlight the phenomenon of pop stars and ask about what part image has to play, especially now that they have signed with a label. It was poorly worded, and wasn’t meant in a disparaging way. I apologize if it comes out negatively.)
Music today:
- We have snow in the forecast again… Who’d A Thought? seems like the appropriate response, especially coming from The Real MacKenzies. Taken from their most recent album, Rats In The Burlap.
- Although I didn’t interview them today, Fossil Cliffs will be appearing in interview form on Monday, and just played a show at the Capital. From their self-titled debut, here’s a hopeful turn for the weather: Summer Sun.
- And from their brand-new, self-titled, second album, we hear another weather-appropriate song: Tidal Wave, from my guests Made Them Lions.
