The Lunchbox Interview: Eva Christensen (Painter)
You may be called to make art multiple times in your life, for different reasons and for different purposes.
During the summer, the Fredericton Arts Alliance brings a pair of artists together in the Barracks to practice their art for all to see. These artists come from a wide variety of disciplines, from painting and sculpture to basket-weaving and writing. As each pair of artists comes in, we’ll be talking to them on the Lunchbox.
My guest today is Eva Christensen, a painter who will be working on watercolour painting for the week of June 24. She describes her desire from a young age to pursue art, her uncertainty which led her away from it for a while, and the heartfelt return to it.
Transcriptions are being made of these interviews! Find the transcription of my interview with Eva on the FAA website.

HitG 018: GM Responsibilities
What exactly does a GM need to do? Arguably, the player characters are the protagonists who are venturing forth to adventure but the GM?
They “just” do everything else.
We’re going to break that down into some key responsibilities, and give an introduction to the much longer talk about what a GM does by what of talking about what they bring to the table.

RFYL Episode – WordsEP074

In this week’s episode, we come to terms with an identity crisis as well as the root of all things deep and meaningful in conversation. You can find the truth in these things by not listening to the words I say, but, in fact, the words that I don’t say.
Or you can just enjoy some music for a change.
ENJOY YOUR SUMMER SEE YOU NEXT .. week, probably.

The Lunchbox Interview: Bard In The Barracks (A Midsummer Night’s Dream)
Imagine if Shakespeare lived today; how would he change his own plays? Perhaps you don’t need to just imagine..
My guests today are involved in the Bard In The Barracks‘ production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the outdoor staging happening within Odell Park. Joining me are Len Falkenstein (director, Grand Poobah of Fredericton Theatre), Liam Browne (actor, Flute) and Lucas Gutierrez-Robert (actor, Bottom). They join me to enthusiastically talk about this classic play, updated into a very modern look and staged in the great outdoors.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream opens with a preview performance on June 22 at 7:30pm in Odell Park, and then has regular performances on June 23, 26, 28, July 3 and 5th, and matinee (2pm) performances on June 30 and July 7.

The Lunchbox Interview: Bard In The Barracks (Measure For Measure)
Despite the changes in the world, some things seem to remain relevant, for better or for worse: Shakespeare, surprisingly, is one of them.
My guests today are part of the cast and crew one of the upcoming Bard In The Barracks productions, Shakespeare’s Measure For Measure. Joining me are John Ball (director), Tilley Jackson (Escala) and Miguel Roy (Angelo). They join me to talk about the surprising and unfortunate relevance this play has to the current day, how they chose to present it with an updated visual context, and demonstrate some of the powerful dialogue from the production.
Bard In The Barracks’s Measure For Measure will be staged in Barracks’ Square downtown. The play opens on June 21 with a preview performance (7:30pm), and then runs June 23, 26 and 28, July 3 and 5th, with matinee performances (2pm) on June 30 and July 7.

The Lunchbox Interview: Margo Sheppard (Green New Deal Canada)
We’ve only got one world, and it should be clear that it’s in trouble — but how do we come together to forge solutions that respect the environment and all of its peoples, all while producing positive economic impact and growth? Sounds like a pretty big Deal.
My guest today is Margo Sheppard, a member of the Fredericton Chapter of the Council of Canadians and part of the organizing committee of Green New Deal Canada. She joins me to talk about the motivations, origin and purpose of the Green New Deal Canada, including efforts to collaborate with all Canadians in discovering what the most pressing economic, social and societal needs are, with respect to the environment and political action to combat climate disruption.
There are numerous town hall meetings taking place across the country to present, discuss and consider solutions for the Green New Deal. In Fredericton, one meeting will be held on June 18 at 7pm at the Christ Church Cathedral Hall, 168 Church St.

HitG 017: The Rule of Cool
You’re facing down the giant, nothing more than your dagger at your side. You declare “I’m going to use the dagger like a piton and climb up the giant, aiming at his head!” The GM smirks and says, “Uh.. no!” You deflate and slink back into your chair.
Uh.. no!!!
Today, we’re going to talk about the Rule of Cool. There are a lot of “golden rule” and “rule 0” suggestions, but this belongs near the top of the list: the desire for the GM — and the other players — to make everything each of the characters do seem as awesome as the best movies, books and videogames you’ve ever seen.
