Lunchbox 2011-07-22 – Pi Approximation Day

Posted on 2011-07-22 by encaf1 Posted in The Lunchbox

Happy Pi Approximation Day! (It’s 22/7 today! … Yeah, I had to look it up too.)

Don’t like that? Ok, so it’s also Ratcatcher’s Day! 😛

With lightning and thunder crashing all around, how could I not play Flash Lightnin’s self-titled track from their self-titled album? Really? No going against that grain.

I also couldn’t resist Weather the Storm by Buddy McNeil & the Magic Mirrors. In between that, however, was:

  • New Brunswick Highland Games this weekend! Check them out on the lawn at Old Government House.
  • The musical story of The Bricklin opens tonight, with Bricklin himself in attendance! Taking place tonight at the Playhouse.
  • Today is the day that Scottish explorer Alexander MacKenzie completed the Northwest Passage. Go play some Stan Rogers, will ya! Also: Willie Post became the first person to solo around the world. Presumably, by plane.
  • Births: Alex Trebek (1940), Willem Dafoe (1955), Rufus Wainwright (1973)

For more information about what’s happening tonight, this weekend and next week, tune it to Fredericton This Week at 6pm!
