Posted on 2013-12-10 by Posted in Against The Mat!

“HOW TO DO EVERYTHING” TOUR

A BRAND NEW SHOW – FROM THE SAME OLD GUY!

After a successful run of 139 shows throughout Canada and the USA on his “Wit and Wisdom Tour”, Red Green is back in theatres across North America in 2013 with a brand new show – How To Do Everything – from the man that should know!

Red Green, Canada’s foremost handyman, who became famous for such things as duct tape, Possum Lodge, and his own unique style of humour and wisdom now shares his thoughts on “How to do everything”. After establishing himself in fifteen seasons of his enormously popular TV show as one of the world’s handiest men, he now shows there is no limit to his specialized knowledge and advice.

“When all else fails, play dead!”
“Never stand between electricity and where it wants to go!”
“Never insult your surgeon, until after the operation!
“In an argument, the big guy with the chain saw is always right”.

An evening with Red Green is always an evening of advice and laughter. Be there to experience it in person.

The Lunchbox: Interview: Nick Dean & Jennifer Richard (White Ribbon Campaign Fredericton)

Posted on 2013-12-06 by encaf1 Posted in The Lunchbox

LunchBox-whiteribbonIt is difficult to talk about violence in our society, but we must do so. We must find a way to end the victimization of the less powerful, to address the inequalities of sex and race and class, and give our support to those individuals who are victims.

The White Ribbon Campaign seeks to unite men in seeking an end to violence by men against women. A Fredericton chapter has just begun this year, meeting to find ways of spreading the message and recruiting more men to pledge to first never commit violence against women, but also to not turn a blind eye to violence that happens to any woman. Calling for Ridictions 2014!

Posted on 2013-12-02 by weirdshow@gmail.com (the Encaffeinated ONE) Posted in The WEIRD Show

Ridiction 2014 logoIt’s that time of the year again, the time when the distance between the worlds of the silly and the non-sensical becomes miniscule, when the line between sense and non-sense become blurred!

Yes, it’s time to start making ridiculous predictions (ridictions!) again!

For those who are new, this is generally just a fun, goofy, completely-not-likely-to-be-serious-or-accurate predictions that I make up about the coming year. It’s a way to blow off steam and transition from the research-based show to a completely made-up one for the holidays.

But this year, I fear I may not have the usual time for them! So I’m enlisting your aid, dear listener: bring me your ridictions!

The rules (if you can call them that):

  1. Keep it clean. The show still airs at 9am on local community radio, and my audience has always been respected and multi-aged.
  2. Keep it about the next year. Or at least, the near-ish future. But..
  3. Keep it ridiculous. It shouldn’t be too likely to happen at all, and be totally outrageous. However..
  4. Keep it relevant. Callbacks are brownie points. If you can use some of the story bits from the past year to support your ridictions, you will be put to the front of the class, and I will likely bump your ridictions closer to the top of the list. As you should know by now, I always have too much material, so getting on the list earlier means you might actually make it to the show.
  5. Keep it Real Weird. D’uh!

You can comment here with your ridictions or post on the Facebook post, or even tweet @theweirdshow and I’ll get them.

Against the Mat is Show of the Month for December

Posted on 2013-12-02 by Nuchtchas Posted in Against The Mat!, Show of the Month
AgainstTheMat and Jimmy Korderas

Against the Mat meets Jimmy Korderas (former WWE referee & host of Aftermath on SN360) in Toronto, in 2011

1) What made you start your show?

Actually, the show was originally known as Falls Count Anywhere. It was started by a gentleman named Andrew Vaughn back in the spring of 2006. Drew joined as a co-host in August 2006. Travis soon followed in the spring of 2007. Fred made some sporadic appearances during 2007 to officially become part of the team in 2008. And we ‘evolved’ into Against The Mat in June 2011.

2) Tell us a little about your yourself?

We are all lifelong wrestling fans. Drew, Travis and Fred have gone to a few UFC events in the past 2 years (UFC 140 & 152 in Toronto, UFC 154 in Montreal).

3) Who would be your dream guest on your show?

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Bret “Hitman” Hart, Bruce Buffer, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase

AgainstTheMat-1

4) What made you decide to come to CHSR to air your show?

Falls Count Anywhere was already on CHSR when the current team started, so it was just natural to stay on board with CHSR.

5) Where do you see the show going in the future?

We are hopeful in getting a larger influx of guests and are looking to make an effort to make the show more interactive with our listeners.

Follow them on Twitter and Facebook and Listen to the Live on Wednesday nights!
