Quantum Break Review

Posted on 2016-04-01 by ICE Posted in Video Game Reviews

Quantum Break is a new fresh idea brought to us by remedy games. Will this game be remembered in the future or does it get left in the past?, Let’s find out.

Story: You play as Jack Joyce (played by Sean Ashmore) a young adult who has a tendency of getting in to trouble. Jack returns back to his home town of River Port and he is there to meet his longtime friend Paul Serene (played by Aidan Gillen). Paul needs help with an experiment at the River Port University that goes terribly wrong. Leaving Jack and Paul with different time based powers. While you thought Paul was once your friend he has become the main antagonist finding a company called Monarch Solutions which is now on the hunt for Jack Joyce because of the incident at the University. So now it is up to Jack Joyce to stop Paul Serene and restore time.

Gameplay: This is not your average third person shooter. During the action sequences you can hide behind cover shooting your way through enemies using your time powers. Sometimes you will encounter certain enemies that you have to use certain time powers to defeat these enemies which is a very interesting and cool idea because it gives you a chance to test out all the powers. Now while you are not shooting your way through a horde of enemies you are walking around collecting Intel and things of that nature it is very important you get everything because it will all tie in to the story. Which is absolutely fantastic not a lot of games do that so this made me happy. With your time sense everything you need to collect is highlighted yellow which is a nice help for those who have trouble finding things like myself. Quantum Break also has a new feature in a game that I have never seen before it has live action half hour TV episodes which is an amazing feature and I was shocked to see it is very important to watch these all the way through as they will tie in with the gameplay story. There are little puzzles to solve

Conclusion: Quantum Break is a game not to be missed. It’s a great original idea with a fresh plot but with a twist. The game play feels very smooth and every collectible you get ties in with the story. The action is great the characters are interesting there is not one bland character in this game especially when they come alive in the live action TV episodes.

Likes: Story ,Time Power, Characters, Great cast

Dislikes: No Cover shooting

This game gets a 9.5/10 “one of the best games I have played this year” Gamers of the Round Table

The Crew review.

Posted on 2016-03-30 by ICE Posted in Video Game Reviews

The Crew Review

The crew is a new type of game we have never seen before a cpg. Does this game become king of the road or does it fall right in to the ditch? lets find out.

Story: This racing game actually has a bit of a story to it which I did not expect at all so it was a plus. You play as Alex a street racer who got framed for killing his brother by some dirty cops and a gang member called Shiv. After spending a few years in prison you are approached by an FBI agent named Zoe who offers you a chance at redemption by bringing down the 510. So once you are released from prison you begin by doing missions for members in the 510 all across the United States. As you complete the missions you rise up through the ranks of the 510 gang getting closer to the dirty cops and the guy that killed your brother.

Gameplay: This is not your average racing game. You start off with a street racing kit and as you explore the United States you unlock skills. Which you attempt to do and if you complete them you will get a bronze, silver or gold ranking which will unlock a certain part for your car increasing the rank of your car which will help you with races or missions. You can have twenty cars or just one each city you go to has a dealership a tuner and a headquarters for upgrades. There were a few things that did disappoint me with the gameplay experience. The physics with your car was quite disappointing you could not flip your car or really spin out. You always landed on your wheels like a cat always landing on its feet. The other thing that really bugged me was how much the cars were so it took a while to get the money you wanted for your car.

Conclusion: The Crew is a good game to find in a twenty dollar bin. With a cliché story not the greatest physics in the world and bad United States design around you. The game is still fun to play.

Likes: The cars, Open world of United States,

Dislikes: Cliché Story, Bad Physics and Bad design around the car.

Score: 7/10

The Lunchbox Interview: Heather Rankin

Posted on 2016-03-29 by encaf1 Posted in The Lunchbox

LunchBox-HeatherRankinIn some people, music is just simply in their home. They grow up with it as plentiful as water, as necessary as sleep, and as ubiquitous as snow in the winter.

Heather Rankin grew up listening, playing, singing and being music. After the success with her brothers and sisters, she returns with a solo album of her own, A Fine Line. Heather is my guest today, and we discuss life in such an incredible group, her desire to go in her own direction musically, and owning a pub in Mabou.

Music today:

  • I featured a couple of songs from Heather Rankin‘s new album, A Fine Line: Superstars and the title track, A Fine Line. The album comes out on Friday.
  • We closed out the hour with a song that mirrors our weather, I think: Tropical Depression, from Jon McKiel.

The Lunchbox Interview: Andrew & Leaya (5th Celebration of Faith In Diversity) [INTERVIEW ONLY]

Posted on 2016-03-29 by encaf1 Posted in The Lunchbox

LunchBox Base2016The world is filled with so many people — and we all want to find some meaning in life, in living and in the universe.

Oftentimes, however, we see the differences between us as negative rather than a strength. Wouldn’t it be better to come together in celebration?

Andrew Hall and Leaya Mullin are two students in a STU course about religious studies. They visited the station to talk about the term-long project to organizing the 5th Annual Celebration of Faith in Diversity. We talked about what the background experience of interacting with the variety of faith groups in Fredericton has been like, their own relationship with faith, and what people can expect to find at this celebration.

The Celebration is happening on March 29 from 5pm until 8pm at the Kinsella Auditorium in McCain Hall at STU.

The Lunchbox Interview: Theatre UNB’s “7 Stories” [FULL EPISODE]

Posted on 2016-03-24 by encaf1 Posted in The Lunchbox

LunchBox-TUNB-7StoriesTheatre has the amazing capability of capturing a single moment — and then stretching it out in impossible ways.

My guests today are Len Falkenstein, “the theatre guy” at UNB and two of his students and actors, Aaron and Alex, from the upcoming closing performance of Theatre UNB’s season: 7 Stories. The story revolves around the single moment of A Man standing on the edge of a ledge on a building — and the other stories which swallow him up in that moment. We talk about the challenges of a plant poised on a moment without movement, of playing multiple characters, and hear a part of one of the scenes.

Music today:

  • I was feeling like a bit of classic style was in order, and Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound immediately came to mind. Were heard Puppet from Don’t You Know?.
  • On an album with more classic style, I played the least classic song! From Basia Bulat‘s album Good Advice, we heard Infamous.
  • And because I can’t resist a pun, we ended the hour with Out Through The Window by Tomato Tomato from their album So It Goes.

Pokken Tournament Review

Posted on 2016-03-23 by ICE Posted in Video Game Reviews

Pokken Tournament

The newest entry in the Pokémon series, Pokken is a fighting game using pokemon with added mechanics like phase shifting to stances in duel mode and a special fighting triangle this game will let you have fun whether you are a fighting game Veteran or completely new to the genre.

Story: unfortunately this is where the game is lacking, the main story revolves around a shadow mewtwo but there’s not much depth to it so the story is almost a throw-away which is odd for a Pokémon spinoff. However the gameplay in singleplayer mode more then makes up for the lack of story.

Gameplay: as stated earlier there are a few modes that makes this game standout from the usual fighting games. First there is phase changes which activate when a combo is done or certain moves are used on the opponent. This causes the area to switch from Field Mode (3D) to Duel Mode (2D) which makes you continuously have to alter your fighting style. Next is the fighting triangle, where Counter moves beat Attacks, Attacks beat Grabs and Grabs beat Counters, this triangle is important to learn because if done right you can deal out bonus damage to the enemy. Now, while this does seem like a lot to take in Pokken has a great tutorial to help you learn so no need to worry about it

In Conclusion: Pokken, despite having a lackluster story is a great game to have and a welcome addition to the pokemon series and I hope we get to see more from it in the futures. I would recommend anyone to try it if you love fighting games or are just a long time pokemon fan.

HAPPY GAMING 😀
