Episode 314: Cullen Bunn
This week on WMD Radio we welcome back friend of the show, Cullen Bunn.
Cullen has a bunch of books in the work, including his newest: “Terrible Lizard”, which is due out next month from Oni Press.
If that wasn’t enough…..and it’s not……he’s also hard at work bringing us the next installment of “Helheim”,…..one of my favorites…… “Brides of “Helheim”
And on a more somber note, “The Sixth Gun” is creeping closer to it’s final issue with only 5 left. Cullen will be telling us what he has planned for the finale.
It feels like that should be enough, but no, there’s more. He’s also got “Sinestro” and “Lobo” coming out from DC, “Magneto” from Marvel, “The Empty Man” from BOOM!, and “Godzilla: Cataclysm” from IDW.
I don’t know where he finds time to sleep, or even be on this program. But he does, and he’s going to tell us about all of it. Tune in!
Don’t forget, you can join us by following along on Twitter, Facebook and of course at http://www.wmdradio.com

The Lunchbox: Dr. Krista Wilkins, Cancer Researcher
Almost everyone knows someone who has gone through cancer — and many people have gone through it themselves.
Worse yet, a lot of people have to endure the process multiple times. But how much do we know about that experience?
Dr Krista Wilkins is no stranger to cancer herself, having battled and triumphed over the disease. It inspired her to pursue nursing, and now to engage in cancer research. She joined me on the Lunchbox to talk about the work that she’s already done to try to understand the treatment and recovery from the disease — beyond just the strictly medical — and talk about her current research looking in the experiences of people who’ve had two or more cancers.
If you would like to join the research study, please contact Megan Williams, Faculty of Nursing, University of New Brunswick at 1-844-284-3077 or email cancerresearch@unb.ca. You can also visit our facebook page at facebook.com/SMCUNB.

It also includes an annual program of awards, nodding the hat to the best of the industry from the previous year, and honouring the greats.

Crazy train Episode #XIV
So the Crazy Train was on an hour earlier this week due to UNB Reds hockey (they won!). Had a great show, we highlighted Hero’s Last Rite and Hard Charger as they were playing a showcase show at the Elk’s Club on Brunswick st. for the MusicNB Festival. Hero’s Last Rite were nominated in the “Loud and Rock” category, which sadly they did not win, but the exposure they got through the MusicNB festival 2014 was what made it all the worthwhile. Make sure you tune in for the next couple of Crazy Train episodes, as we’ll be airing interviews from both Steven McDonald of HLR and Shawn Smith of Hard Charger.
Next week’s show will be on our regular time slot at 6-8 PM on Saturday night and although I’d been touting Episode 15 as our “Retro Train” show, I’ve decided to move the retro show until Episode 20. I got such excellent interviews with HLR, Hard Charger and Alter Ego, that I felt it wouldn’t be as timely to wait until after the “retro” show to air them. This also gives me a few more weeks to put together the best of the best in ’80’s and ’90’s Maritime Metal acts for the ‘Retro Train’ show.
I’ll try to get the ‘Play List’ for Episode XIV up as soon as I can!
Congrats to this weeks winner of the Mike Lapond’s ‘Silent Assassin’s’ merch pack, Brian Alexander Theodore Olsen! You can pick up your prize at CHSR-FM. We still have one more ‘Silent Assassin’s’ merch pack to give out, so stay tuned for that prize give-away and MORE! The Lunchbox: East Coast Love Story
Some people just radiate togetherness and happiness. That’s my immediate sense from meeting the members of East Coast Love Story, a Moncton-based band currently visiting Fredericton to take in the MusicNB Festival.
These guys aren’t just a band — they’re friends, housemates and sincerely cool cats. Join me as I do my own style of interview (in comparison with the great performance they did on Bondo’s show just last night!), and we talk about being a band, making connections and friends in the music industry and doing the nightly jam.
They are joining us at Live at the Blue Lounge on Friday night, and will be playing in the Wilser’s Room at 9pm with Les Hotesses D’Hilaire, Earthbound Trio and Wanabi Farmeur.
