This week on Where Monsters Dwell we welcome Christopher Jones back to the show. Christopher has a new book coming out from Future Dude Comics called “Parallel Man”, and he’s going to tell us all about it.
Also, Gotham and Agents of SHIELD premiered this week. We tried our best to watch Gotham, but the government of New Brunswick was having none of it.

I am a man. That’s one of the statements I use to identify myself. What exactly that means, however, is a lifelong journey that I’m only in the middle of, and probably won’t have a final report by the time I’m done.
Some things seem to hold universal, however, and the objective of the upcoming exhibition, The Jack Show, is to have just about all of those represented. Jeff MacArthy, one of the co-producers of the upcoming “Ultimate Men’s Lifestyle Show“, joined myself and new member Pieter to talk about the wide number of things to be found this weekend at the Capital Exhibit Centre, from welding exhibits to Oculus Rift, from chicken wings to loaders, from beer to rock climbing.
CHSR is giving away tickets to the show! If you’d like to enter, follow us on Twitter and leave a tweet or like us and comment on Facebook and tell us: what’s the manliest thing you’ve ever done — or would like to do? Winners will be announced on Friday’s show.

Some people meet with bad health, and it gets them down.
Other people, the inspiring people, they are the ones that take on bad health with full spirits, fight on and turn it all around.
I had the delight to talk with two such folks today, along with the VP of the NB Lung Association. They are all taking part in the upcoming Bike For Breath, a fundraiser and cycling challenge being held on September 28. Carmen Hamilton underwent a double lung transplant in early 2013, then participated later in the year in the Bike For Breath. Krystal Freake was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a very young age, but hasn’t let lung problems slow down her passion for sports, although she will also be seeing a lung transplant in her future. Both of them were brought as guests by Arthur Thomson, Vice President of the NB Lung Association and one of the organizers (and participants!) of the upcoming Bike For Breath.
Listen to their incredible stories and see if you can either raise money & participate or donate to a great cause.

The concept of borders is somewhat artificial; the lines on a map are arbitrary, representing historical politics more than the on-the-ground reality of life. Certainly, problems and concerns and the regularity of human life goes far beyond these invisible distinctions of place.
One of the great consequences of people realizing this is the number of “… Without Borders” organizations that exist. UNB hosts its own chapter of Engineers Without Borders (Facebook), an organization that concerns itself with helping the world meet the challenges of life and circumstance. I had the chance to sit down with Johanna and Heather, two representatives of EWB-UNB, and they informed me about the organization’s history and purpose, as well as letting me know that its about much more people than just Engineers.
This weekend, the EWB-UNB is joining forces with the Accreon Fall Classic for the Run To End Poverty.
