Episode 311: Featuring Hope Nicholson

Posted on 2014-10-04 by MonsterMike Posted in Where Monsters Dwell

This week on Where Monsters Dwell we welcome comic historian Hope Nicholson back to the program. You’ll remember Hope from last year when she was busy bringing “Nelvana of the Northern Lights” back to the the mainstream.

Well Hope is busy once again trying to resurrect lost golden age hero, Brok Windsor.

We’ll find out how everything went with Nelvana, and see what she’s doing to introduce Brok to a modern day audience. www.brokwindsor.com

The Crazy Train Episode #XI September 27, 2014

Posted on 2014-09-29 by Chris Waddell Posted in The Crazy Train

ctimage1

After two weeks out of the Engineers seat, it was great to be back on the Crazy Train with my Co-host ‘Buzz’. Thanx to ‘Buzz’ for filling in for me while I was away the first weekend at the Maritime Metal & Hard Rock Festival in Aylesford and then last weekend in Halifax for a wedding. Trust me, I missed you all!

We had a great show! Mike LaPond’s ‘Silent Assassins’ sent us a huge ‘give-away’ package which no one won anything. We’ll try again next week. We had some great requests including Mudvayne and some Krokus. We continued to play some tracks from bands that played the Maritime Metal & Hard Rock festival.

We had paid a solemn tribute to the passing of a member of the Maritime Metal Community. DeWayne J Hicks was a founding member and guitar player for Saint John Metal band ‘Victim13’, passed away from cancer on September 22. We play a track by his band. Our condolences to DeWayne’s family and friends.

Some great gigs and Halloween events coming up.

Thank you to everyone who could join in. The tech crew was working on setting up our ‘Studio B’ on Saturday and we believe that may have been the source of the CHSR stream not being available, but fear not! Clicking on ‘Download’ or stream, and you can hear what you missed!

See ya’ll, not this Saturday but the next, as I’ll be in Kingston Ont. this upcoming weekend! We haven’t decided if ‘Buzz’ is going to do the show or if we’re gonna huck on a repeat!

Here’s the Play List from Episode 11:

Crazy Train – Ozzy Osbourne          Spiritual Suicide – Dischord

Vanquished – Vanquisher               The Coachmen – Viathin

Give – Broken Ohms                          Save it for my ghost (goat) – Hero’s Last Rite

Puppet Show – Kickin’ Krotch        Beyond Control – Kickin’ Krotch

In Shadows of the Blood Cross – Beyond Eternal       Monster – Last Kick

Eat My Sins – Victim13                    She Drives Me Crazy – Krokus

][ D ][ 0 V – Mudvayne                    We Die Young – Alice In Chains

Shake Your Blood – Probot             Secular Haze – Ghost

The Quest – Silent Assassins         Once More Round the Sun – Mastodon

Listen live!

This week on Where Monsters Dwell we welcome Christopher Jones back to the show. Christopher has a new book coming out from Future Dude Comics called “Parallel Man”, and he’s going to tell us all about it.

Also, Gotham and Agents of SHIELD premiered this week. We tried our best to watch Gotham, but the government of New Brunswick was having none of it.

Tune in and find out if we managed to rise up and overthrow our terrible oppressors.

And as usual, we welcome you to participate in the show. You can post any questions or comments you may have in our Facebook group or call us at 506-452-6056.

Where Monsters Dwell is brought to you by Strange Adventures and Club Fred Grafx.

WMD gets it’s pop culture news from SciFi Mafia.
