(Epic) Episode 9: Annoying Characters

Posted on 2012-07-06 by Marc Cabot Posted in EPIC!

Hosts: Marc Cabot, Joel Richard, and Richard Gray

Description:
Marc, Joel, and Rich explore some of the most annoying characters they have come across.  Apologies to Will Wheaton.

Background:
The intro to this episode was originally intended to be the Diabill sketch we did in the last episode.  We moved that sketch since it seemed to fit the previous episode better.  We were then left with no sketch for this one!  What to do??  Editing to the rescue!  The speech that Joel recites in the intro was actually something he said in the previous episode when we were poking fun at ourselves on how accurate we were.  We cut it out of that episode, threw in some nifty effects and voila.  New Intro Sketch.

Detailed show notes can be found here.

(Epic) Episode 8: Worst Villains

Posted on 2012-07-03 by Marc Cabot Posted in EPIC!

Hosts:
Marc Cabot, Joel Richard, and Richard Gray

Description:
Marc, Joel, and Rich explore some of the worst villains of all time.

Background:
We actually recorded this episode rather spontaneously after the last one.  The intro sketch was slated to be used in a future episode, but I found that it worked better here.

Epic Words of Wisdom:
“You should be more interested in science, Jake.  You know why?  Because your face is perfect.”
–  Elliot Moore played by Mark Wahlberg in The Happening.

CAFFEEN! playlist for 2012-05-19: “Jazzy III”

Posted on 2012-06-02 by encaf1 Posted in CAFFEEN!

There were once clear musical boundaries, perhaps. Maybe its a myth, and we just think that we have it more complex, and that we can just squint a bit and fit all the disparate parts back together again, smooth over differences. It’s not like it needs to be one thing or the other, but both at the same time..

Let’s continue this months jazzier theme, shall we? Definitions be damned!

  • space to run by Arc from the album Feral.
  • Log In b by Moondog from the album A New Sound Of An Old Instrument.
  • Des champs by Man an Ocean from the album Fields/Hurricanes.
  • Tunnel Chrome by Chicago Underground Quartet from the album Chicago Underground Quartet.
  • Water From the Same Source by Rachel’s from the album Systems/Layers.
  • Knives Out by Corporate Love Breakdown from the album The Bluegrass Tribute to Radiohead.
  • Swirling Colours Sink by Destroy All Dreamers from the album A Coeur Leger Sommeil Sangiant.
  • Elephants by Bell Orchestre from the album As Seen Through Windows.

Sessions @ CHSR – 048 You Vs Me

Posted on 2012-04-04 by Matt Nightingale Posted in Sessions @ CHSR

I sat down with You Vs Me in their acoustic outfit with Mark Kilfoil operating the boards. We talked about promotional deals, shaking a hand angrily at the sky, and the classic nintendo / atari game “Joust”. Confused?
Then check it out! They were a lot of fun both in studio and at the show, and I’m personally looking forward to seeing them again.

Sessions @ Night – 047 – Eliza and the Strange

Posted on 2012-04-04 by Matt Nightingale Posted in Sessions @ CHSR

Yours truly sat down with Eliza and the Strange while advertising my own crazy show. I’m not going to do it again, it’s already everywhere.

Ahem.

Find out more about what makes this band “The Strange” as we talk about all sorts of inappropriate things (hence it being at Night), as well as discussing the inspirational motions put forward by planetary alignments and Jim Carrey.

Seriously though, this band has a wicked sound that you don’t want to miss. MD out!
PS: Doesn’t the drummer look awesome bathed in light?
