“Morohubu” by Morohubu – A Review from Colin Fowlie
My father’s side of the family settled in Woodstock, New Brunswick. I’ve consequently spent a fair chunk of time there and am familiar with the overall vibe and basic geography of the town but not the local music scene. As a result, when I heard a bit about the band Morohubu, hailing from Woodstock and playing Rock/Funk/Fusion music, I was intrigued.
First, we’ll discuss the facts. Morohubu is:
Andrew Bull: Bass/Vocals
John Morris: Keyboards
Steve Hubbard: Guitar
Randy Ross: Drums
I had the chance to sit down with their debut self-titled EP, released on August 9th, 2017, and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The opening track “Might Be Wrong” is a chill, soulful groove that gently introduces you to their overall sound.
They follow by kicking up the funk on the second cut, “Get Up and Dance” which was a highlight for me. While I have to admit that I didn’t get up and dance myself, I grooved out about as hard as one can while remaining seated. Lead guitarist Steve Hubbard executes an expertly crafted guitar solo that clocks in at an epic 90 seconds and explores a range of dynamics, evoking a range of emotions. The half-dozen or so friends and family members that I have insisted listen to the track while I watch them have all also been duly impressed.
The third track “Girl in 7b” is a funky lament. I can say with some confidence I have not used those two terms together in the past, but they most certainly apply here. The EP is rounded out by a return to harder grooves entitled “What We Want” that punctuates a really damned enjoyable 24 minutes of music.
Morohubu is a tight-knit ensemble with a high degree of musicianship across the lineup. The lyrics are engaging and singable, and the grooves are tight. They have already started to make their way into the summer festival scene, and I am very much looking forward to see where things are heading for this project. If you think that some feelgood funky fusion rock might be just what you need in your day, this EP is a great way to spend some time. As I write this, I am completing my 5th or 6th listen to this production, and I think you’ll find yourself going back to it more than once as well.
You can catch Morohubu here in Fredericton on Saturday, October 7th, playing alongside local instrumental masters, Joyful Noise. The show goes down at the Grimross Brewing Company at 8pm. Head on out and congratulate these guys on a job well done.
Grab the EP Here:
https://morohubu.bandcamp.com/
Or stream it on Spotify, and then go check them out live. I think you’ll be compelled to want to see them play these songs and in person.

The Crazy Train Episode #CXXI
Been a while my friends! Episode #121 was a pre-recorded episode, but it wont be the last! I WILL however be doing my first live show in a month THIS upcoming Saturday, Sept. 2nd.
Episode #121 kicked off with two brand new tracks from Montreal’s ‘Requiomend’ from their album ‘Tide breaker’. Hoping to see the guys down this way sometime sooner than later. Also in Hour I, we dipped our toes into a couple of more ‘Alt-Rock’ artists, with ‘Dazor’ from Halifax and ‘Melonvine’ from Moncton. Both bands are carrying a ‘Grunge’ like banner which is great to hear in this day and age. We returned to Metal with Rifium, Red Usurper, the Meat Sweats and more. See the list below.
After the weekend of September 9th, I should be back to regular shows… And then of course UNB Reds hockey will be starting up soon… Seems time is never on my side anymore!

The Escapists 2 Review
Team 17 & Mouldy Toof Studios bring us The Escapists 2, a top down strategy game. You must escape many scenarios; like a prison for example. There are many ways to escape a prison, but that is not all you do. Following a schedule and protocol is necessary to keep out of trouble. There are many ways to escape from the levels, by acquiring a variety of items; like weapons, keys, and uniforms. Collect these items by taking them from prisoner’s desks or earn coins by doing tasks for prisoners and buying the items from other prisoners. The prisons are not just in buildings this time. There are prisons on trains, submarines, airplanes and much more. As you progress through the levels, they become more difficult. You must collect keys in order to unlock more levels, which can become frustrating. As you try to escape while time is running out, you must cover your jailbreak attempt with an item such as a desk, masking your attempt during inspection.
The Escapists 2 feels like a great sequel and is truly a unique experience.

The Lunchbox Interview: Julian Christie, Marie Meade, Larry Holder (Enbicon 2017)
Games teach us so many things about who we are, how to get along with others, how to solve problems and think outside the box — as well as being perhaps the most engaging entertainment you can imagine, and a chance to be someone else for a while.
My guests today are Julian Christie, Marie Meade and Larry Holder, some of the organizers behind the upcoming 2017 edition of the Enbicon game convention and Capital Cosplay costuming event. Uncharted Lost Legacy Review
Naughty Dog brings us a lengthy DLC, from the Uncharted series featuring a story following the events of Uncharted 4 with Chloe and Nadine. You take control of Chloe in this case; as she is on the hunt for the Tusk of Ganesh, and tries to beat a war lord by the name of Asav. Who is in the middle of a war himself. The lost legacy takes place in India, which is great because it is a new location. But 90% of it takes place in a jungle like all of the other Uncharted games (a change of scenery would be nice in this series).
In the beginning of the game, we see the characters struggle to trust each other and work together. As the story continues we find out a little bit more about the history of the characters. Especially Chloe, and who her father was. Come to find out she is finishing what her father began. Nadine’s story is a bit different and is satisfying to find out what has happened to her and shoreline, and how she acquired the organization. The characters seem to get closer as the story progresses with some minor bumps along the way.
Lost Legacy is a great expansion of the series and I hope to see a full triple A title featuring these two characters in the future.
Uncharted Lost Legacy: 9/10
