Episode 330 – Canadian Road Rage and Comic Reviews

Posted on 2015-03-25 by MonsterMike Posted in Where Monsters Dwell

WMD 330This week on WMD Radio we’ll be talking about a little thing we do differently north of the 49th parallel: “Canadian Road Rage”. Pop culture comes in many shapes and sizes, folks – and viral videos come from anywhere everywhere, so WMD Radio’s back yard is no exception. We’ll break down this local and courteous exchange of driver discontent while throwing in our usual 2 cents.

And after 2 weeks of recklessly leaving Brew and Redshirt unattended in the studio Remy is back! We’ll catch up with him while we review a few comics from our LCS, follow up on a couple of your favorite shows – heck, we might even have some stuff to give away again!

All of that plus a BIG guest announcement for next week’s Walking Dead series recap episode! Hope you all can join us tonight at 8PM EST / 9PM AST.

As always, we welcome your participation in the show. Post questions or comments in our Facebook group, join the discussion in our chat room: http://mixlr.com/wmdradio, or tweet us @WMDRadio.

WMD Radio is sponsored by Strange Adventures and Club Fred Grafx.

The Lunchbox Interview: Alex & Dylan on “Enron” (TUNB)

Posted on 2015-03-24 by encaf1 Posted in General

LunchBox-Enron-TUNBDo you remember the name “Enron”?

To a lot of people, I think the details may be fuzzy, but the following words might come to mind:

Oil.

Business.

Scandal.

Dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs?

Ok, so the last one isn’t familiar to you yet, but it will be! Two of the Theatre UNB actors, Alex & Dylan, dropped by today to talk about their next big project: Enron, a play by Lucy Prebble. We talk a bit about the last production I saw them in, Our Country’s Good, and compare and contrast their experiences. They let slip that there may just be some dinosaurs in this play, and that it is a tragedy of comic proportions.

BONUS: they also perform a bit of a scene from the play, between the financier and the CEO, their two characters in the play.

Enron plays at Memorial Hall on UNB Fredericton campus, opening on Wednesday night at 8:00pm and running through and including Saturday night.

And don’t forget: if you are going to the play, you’re going to Memorial Hall anyway, so take along your e-waste to help recycling and help spread the message!

Music today:

  • The Mohrs remind me of Spring (a little) with their song Youth from the Kings of Nowhere album.
  • And Emilie Rae is probably not singing about Enron, but there may be Something Wrong anyway. Taken from her Frigid Fire album.

In The Know Episode 12

Posted on 2015-03-21 by Joseph Keefe Posted in In The Know

In the Know.jpgIt’s time to “Get Fracking!!!!!!”

Since the first drill well set up shop in 1947, hydraulic fracturing, AKA, “fracking” has been on the wallets of many big corporations and on the minds of many small citizens, whether it be “the government” improving the economy without relying on outside energy sources, or “the people” dying of water contamination from leftover carcinogens on their properties. Water contamination reports tied to big corporations are always swept under the rug from an out of court settlement, just like in the movie Erin Brockovich.

There is a lot of contradiction and confusion surrounding fracking. We hear reports of how safe it is and how unsafe it is at the same time. What better way to keep people confused! Who can we trust, or better yet, can we trust anyone?

This episode of In The Know talks about more than just the immediate “FRACK COCAINE” high of instant profits, lots of jobs and energy to keep our “amazing” economy moving in Canada, with many more poor people living here than rich ones. In our “Fracking With Backing” forum, we talk to Jimmy Perchlorate, a Geologist working at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia. He is here to expose all the contradiction and confusion surrounding Fracking in Canada and the US, instead of attacking or defending against any opinion or viewpoint attached to this issue from all our natural gas production. As Jesus said in the bible, its time to FART and TURN THE OTHER CHEEK!!!!!!

With an interview both serious and hilarious, and an amazing and unique comedy commercial that needs to be performed by me and the rest of the cast and crew on 22 Minutes, you’ll feel better after knowing what Fracking is really all about, instead of trying to believe which “EXPERT” is more credible on the stand: our public expert conducting water contamination tests, or our TRUSTED government expert conducting them?

Also, the parody song to wrap up this episode is amazing, funny and “FART” !!  You’ll be laughing from all the natural LAUGHING GAS in this one eh! Where are you 22 Minutes? I love you 🙂 We  In The Know are not a one show pony, we know a thing or 2 about a SING or 2 Margie, you bet ya, yeaaahhh!!!
