We live in an age of incredible access to information, where people from all around the world are getting a chance to learn about others everywhere else. (The access isn’t universal yet, but we are moving in that direction.)
But there is still nothing quite like getting a chance to see it for yourself, to get the opportunity to meet another culture and interact with it. That’s the chance offered to young students from all over Africa presented through the African Children’s Choir. Matt Baxter (who has been filling in for me while I was away on conference) spoke with Tina Sipp, one of the event coordinators for the African Children’s Choir. They talked about the history and incredible story of how it began, the tours that they go on, and the opportunity that this gives the children to travel.
The Choir is coming to the Fredericton area on June 28. They’ll be performing at the Grace Memorial Baptist Church at 536 Northumberland St in Fredericton at 10:30am, and later in the evening at 6:30pm in Minto. The performances offer entrance by donation, which helps them continue their work.
Music today:
- Patrick Watson tells us the future! From his album Love Songs For Robots, we heard Good Morning, Mr Wolf.
- And to give you a taste of what to expect, I played Lord I Life Your Name On High, as performed by the African Children’s Choir.
