The Crazy Train Episode #XLII
On Episode #42 I was back from my ‘Staycation’ in Saint John and was joined by not only Steve ‘The Buzz Man’ Dunnett but also joining us on the show was Steve’s friend Heather Smith and long time friends of both Steven and I, Jennifer Wright and Gene Godin. I had asked Jen and Gene to join us as our first guests on a new series we’re trying out. We’re asking long time friends who are rockers and Metalheads to join us on the Crazy Train to talk about the When, How, Why of Heavy Metal in their lives.
So Jen and Gene programmed hour II in which we played their requests for Ozzy, The Answer, The Cult, Triumph, Blotto some Metallica and much more!
I’ll be away this up coming weekend as the Wasteland Zombies are playing in Saint John with Hero’s Last Rite and The Green Lung Grinders, so I’ll be handing the control of the Train over to Steven and Heather.
Spinesplitter had their video release party at the Palmer Street Dungeon on May 11th.
The band played an awesome set (one of their first in a year!) and then Peterborough Ontario’s ‘Cross Dog’ kicked some ass!
Here’s the link to the Spinesplitter video for the song ‘Black Wings of DEATH’

Rosie Morning Tomorrow..Special Mothers’ Day Show!
The Lunchbox Interview: Jennifer Richard (FSACC)
You never know when you might be in trouble. It’s best to be prepared, but that preparation means also knowing what supports exist when you need them.
That’s the double message for today, both for the Disaster Preparedness Week and for my guest today. Jennifer Richard works at the Fredericton Sexual Assault Crisis Centre, an organization dedicated to both providing a supporting voice for women undergoing a harmful situation and for advocating for further support services to be created and expanded. We talked about the services the organization provides, the history behind the centre, and the advocacy that we all need to carry to make the world safer for all.
Music today:
- In honour of the here and there sunshine, we heard Gold from Canvas, from the album Sticktoitiveness.
- And Soho Ghetto reminds us to take it slow and steady with a track from their album Thou or I or Both called One At A Time.

The Lunchbox Interview: Barry MacKnight, Jennifer Richard (White Ribbon Fredericton)
Join in the White Ribbon March to show your support for ending men’s violence toward women. The 2nd annual march is happening on May 6, walking from Officer’s Square to City Hall, followed by guest speakers and a BBQ. Get out into the warm light and share it with everyone!
My guest today are Barry MacKnight and Jennifer Richard, some of the great people who make things like White Ribbon Fredericton possible. We talk about getting the message out to everyone, including interest coming from high schools to create chapters for teenagers.
Music today:
- A good sleep has been avoiding me lately, so I turned to instrumentalist and troubadour Stephen Lewis and His Big Band Of One with the song I’m Tired from Peanut Butter & Jams. Be sure to check out his new CD, with the release party (and after-party!) coming up this Friday.
- Every need someone to lean on? Yeah, we all do. Here’s Lay It On Me by Peter Katz, from his album We Are The Reckoning.
- And because summer is around the corner, why not think of tropical climates? From the C & C Surf Factory‘s album Garage City, here’s The Outsider.
