Run For Your Life! – the psychobilly rock show of zombie sharks

Another week down, another month we’re burning through. All my posts are the same, even that same statement! What keeps me going is a nearly-endless playlist and a bunch of albums that came out throughout 2020 that are absolutely awesome… which is exactly what I’m spinning for all of you.

I have no pearls of wisdom, no fortune cookie direction to be found here. I will suggest that you find some time on this non-holiday weekend to play something really loud for the sake of listening to something loud, and that’s it.

Playlist:

Grey Smoke – Blood Red Shoes
Dischordia – The Motorleague
Bad For You – Grand Electric
Sunrise / Earth and Ether – Kitchen Witch
Dance Like A Reptile – Deaf Radio
Better Off Dead – A Primitive Evolution
Future Sun – Sacrifice to Survive
Marching Home – Motion Device
A Matter Of Time – From The Depth
Dark Water – Juliet Ruin
Seven Nation Army (feat Haley Reinhart ) – Postmodern Jukebox

Run For Your Life! – the psychobilly rock show of zombie sharks

This show makes a lot of assumptions – one, that there’s anywhere to run to. Two, that anyone is going anywhere, especially on a holiday. Three – third thing.

That’s a lot, you know. But it’s a Holiday weekend, which everyone will probably be enjoying their staycation or, if not, possibly spreading around the newest variant. Variety IS the spice of life, and salt is a spice, so you just learned two things maybe?

Anyway, eat chocolate, enjoy music.

Sweet Desire – Motion Device
Millenium – Cellar Twins
Let It Burn – Rockin’ Engine

Run For Your Life! – the psychobilly rock show of zombie sharks

And so, March ended, and we’re officially at one year of lockdown. I have to say, the only thing that really changed for me is that I’m not as horribly sick as I was. The shut-in lifestyle has suited me well, mostly because I’ve always been one.

Plus it’s been great for me articulating my sound system!

Anyway, check out the playlist, or if you really wanna have a good time, check out the podcast instead. It ramps up hard, and we even start in a warmer-weather kinda way! Go us!

Playlist:
Another Day – Powder for Pigeons
Alligator – Reignwolf
Earth & Ether – Kitchen Witch
Scorpion Time – Maggot Heart
The Lion and The Keeper – Motion Device
Wovoka – Cellar Twins
Keep It Refreshing – We Hunt Buffalo
Ignite / Foundations – Osyron

The Lunchbox 2021-03-25: Theatre UNB’s TomorrowLove (w/ a scene!)

Posted on 2021-03-25 by encaf1 Posted in CHSR News, The Lunchbox

Feature:

  • I love theatre. This should be no surprise to anyone who’s heard me before, and it is one of my joys to help celebrate the theatre done within this city. One of the people who loves theatre as much (probably more!) than me, and who certainly contributes greatly to our strong theatre scene is Len Falkenstein. While his official title is “Director of Drama at UNB”, I have dubbed him “Grand Poobah of Theatre in Fredericton”. He joins me along with student actorss Mary Walker and Hentry Hatch in the second of two interviews about Theatre UNB’s upcoming production massive of TomorrowLove. The 15 (!) plays of this “play cycle” are being staged in two bundles starting on March 31.
  • Lainie B from Monday night’s B Street brings us another installment of Positive Songs For Pandemics with a cover of Just What I Needed by K-OS.
  • Continuing to celebrate and highlight women’s voices for the month, I added the heavenly voice of Ingrid Gatin with the title track of her album, Time Will Change Us.
  • The UNB Art Centre continues to release interviews that shine a spotlight on some of the women artists featured in the UNB Permanent Collection. This week: Ann Manuel.
  • UNB offers numerous courses about art and culture in its Leisure Learning series. Register early to get a 15% savings on the already-affordable course costs. See the full list of courses on their website.
