We are defined by who we are are what we know, but perhaps more precisely by who we aren’t and what we don’t have the foggiest idea about..

My guest today is Michael de Adder, well-known for his capturing of the moment succinctly and often hilariously through regular “political” cartoons. He’s published another book of new cartoons, this time satirizing, celebrating and highlighting that eternal Canadian question: “Just who are we, anyway?”

The new book, You Might Be From Canada If… is in bookstores now. We talked about the surprises that come from trying to summarize Canadian identity, some of the classic moments captured by the book, and how things we don’t know inform how we might just be..

The Lunchbox Interview: Inland Island

Music can be deliberate or accidental; some of the best kinds are both.

My guests today are Avalon, Jyotsana and Ellen of Inland Island out of Montreal. The trio produce a flavour of whimsical pop music that is both nostalgic and present in the moment. We talked about the band’s origins, the creation of the three videos out so far, and where the music takes you.

Inland Island are currently on tour of the Maritimes, set to appear along with Ski Team and Tooth & Fang at Read’s Newstand and Café on Monday, May 29 at 8:30pm. Find Inland Island on Facebook and Bandcamp.

He will be performing on the saxophone.   Michael is a grade 11 student attending FHS who immigrated from China 3

years ago. He is a multi talented musician.  He plays the saxophone in the concert band and the drums in the school’s

jazz band.  He is equally proficient on both instruments.

Bondo chats with Said the Whale – Interview

April 27, 2017 – Said The Whale are a JUNO award winning band based in Vancouver, BC who recently released their 5th studio album As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide. Known for their uptempo pop rock songs, this new album definitely has some darker tones and themes while still keeping to their signature sound. Also new is that they’ve shed 2 band members, allowing them more freedom in the studio.

My guest today is Amanda LeBlanc, one of the people behind the Under One Sky Friendship Centre, and related programs such as the outdoor classroom and workshops. We talk about the early education program which takes pre-Kindergarten aboriginal students outside to learn, the partnership with Musique Nomade to bring a free program to help aboriginal musicians polish their work, and the growth of the Friendship Centre and its programs.

Bondo chats with Avery Raquel – Interview

May 22, 2017 – Avery Raquel is a very accomplished performer. Starting in theater very young Avery has appeared on television and stages across Canada, performed at the Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, and at many jazz festivals all over. Plus she’s involved with volunteer and charity work and is the recipient of a long list of awards. Avery has also recently released her second full length album Without A Little Rain. Oh yeah, did we mention she’s only 15?

Listen in while Bondo chats with Brantford Ontario’s incredibly talented young lady about having an accomplished career at a young age, balancing performing with a teenage life, and how she got into jazz/R&B in the first place.
