When is a story created — when it is first written, or when it is first re-written?
My guests today are Jean-Michel Cliche (Producer/Director) and Ryan Griffith (Artistic Director/Playwright) of The Next Folding Theatre Company. Their latest production, Back To Zero, opens at the Black Box Theatre on Wednesday, March 9. They join me today to talk about how the play came to be (from a short story in progress), a mystery of a mystery, and what Back To Zero is generally all about (but no spoilers!).
Since it’s International Women’s Day, all of my musical selections are from women or female-fronted bands:

Our CHSR-FM Annual ‘Fundrive’ is coming up. We’re doing a bottle drive, so if ya got a bunch of empty beer, booze bottles and cans, bring ’em up to the Student Union Building on UNB campus the morning of Saturday March 13th or Saturday March 19th! We rely on YOU the community to keep CHSR FM on air!
No guests on this show, but coming up on Episode #80 we’ll be joined by Dave Manning of ‘East Coast Awakening’. Dave is going to give us the whole lo-down on the Metal & Hard Rock festival he is putting together for July and it’ll be right outside Fredericton!
Brand new ‘Orchid’s Curse’ kicked off Hour I of the show as well as another brand new track from ‘Siegebreakers’ recently released 5 song EP. In Hour II it was kicked off with brand new ‘Voivod’ as well as a new track from ‘Anthrax’s’ latest release. Also a new band and a new track from Mexico’s Darkened Black Metal band ‘Veneah’.
The rest of Hour II was dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of ‘Metallica’s’ Master of Puppets. Man, 30 years! I can still remember buying it on cassette and playing it on the family stereo system! Time flies! I want to dedicate that Metallica tribute to the original ‘Puppet Master’ Jason Shipley who was the ‘Crazy Trains’ host from the mid 1980’s up to about 1996/97
Here’s the play list for Episode #79:
Hour I:

What is shame — and why, oh why, do we do it? Do we have an epidemic of shame that the Internet makes even easier?
And do you squee over a particular TV show/anime/game/movie/comic book? Do you ever cosplay (costume play) as your favourite character? Are you carrying jewelry, books or clothing adorned with the best symbols of the best shows? Maybe you’re part of a fandom.
In the first half of the show, Ben Crouse takes a look at shame in the Internet age — and in the gym. And in the second half, Jordyn Meade-Baxter talks with people about their favourite things and fandoms.

CHSR’s annual Fundrive is here! This year we’re trying something a little different, we’re creating a Patreon campaign to help raise some much needed funds for Fredericton’s only campus based community radio station.
CHSR will also be present at the Boyce Farmers’ Market March 5th to promote community radio, plus we have a lot of other fundraising activities that you can get involved in.

Heavy Rain (ps4) Review.
Heavy Rain is back for another round on the PS4. This interactive drama action- adventure game developed by Quantic Dream and published by PlayStation exclusively. Does this HD remake drown in rain water or does it survive to see another day? Let’s find out.
Story: You take control of four main characters in the story of Heavy Rain. The characters surround themselves in the case of the origami killer. In one way or another the characters in this game are affected by the origami killer and dealing with their own dilemmas.
Ethan Mars: Once a family man and architect who had it all and then tragedy struck leaving him in a coma for six months. Ethan is the latest victim of the origami killer having his son kidnapped and it is up to Ethan to find him.
Scott Shelby: A former police officer who has left the force and become a private eye who suffers from asthma. In this game he is currently working on the case of the origami killer hired by the victims’ families.
Norman Jayden: An FBI agent sent from Washington to investigate the origami killer case. Norman is quite the interesting character in this Noir type game. He has these set of glasses and a right hand glove which consist of augmented reality. This allows Norman to rapidly investigate crime scenes and analyze the evidence which he finds at the scene of the crime. Norman is not your normal cop though he is addicted to a drug called triptocaine which helps him cope with the side effects of the ARI.
Madison Page: A Photo Journalist suffering from chronic insomnia and nightmares. Madison checks in to hotels which evidently are the only places where she can get proper sleep. The particular hotel she checks in to where she crosses paths with Ethan Mars and begins her journey helping Mr. Mars get his son back from the origami killer.
Game Play: This game might seem like one big quick time event, but it is not. You can decide what to say to people or what to do in an action sequence by various buttons and controller movements; which can affect the outcome of the story in this game. This is great because it gives you so many options of how you want to play the game and how you want your character to be.
Conclusion: Heavy Rain is simply amazing there are no other words to say for this game. The characters are excellent, the action sequences are phenomenal and I don’t think anyone else could do it better other than Quantic Dream. The story in this game is the best I have seen in years. There is definitely replay ability to this game with there being over twenty different endings. Once you pick up the controller you will not be able to put it down. If you have a PS4 this HD game is not to be missed.
Score: 9.5/10
