A chef, an actor, a musician, a photographer: what does your kid want to be this summer?
My guest today is Alison Howells, the Program Development Coordinator of UNB Leisure Learning and Design Works Programs. She joins me to celebrate the upcoming UNB Design Works summer camps for kids between ages 6 and 14. Radio Drama Re-Creation: “What Was It?”
CHSR is looking to re-create a classic bit of radio drama!
We’re looking for people interested in acting, scriptwriting, directing, audio editing, and foley (sound fx) for an audio drama project!
We’re going to take the script from the 1943 production of “What Was It?” by The Weird Circle and create our own version of it. We’re going to come together and consider changes to the script — character, plot, setting, and date changes — and then record, edit and produce a final product by July 1st.
If you’re interested, we’ll be having a meeting on Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30pm at CHSR. After that, we’ll plan what we need to do to make it happen.
If you are interested in getting involved, please email Mark Kilfoil at ProgramDirector@chsrfm.ca or message us on Facebook.

The Lunchbox Interview: Tim Rayne (The Capital Project)
One of the accidentally best-kept secrets is the depth and wealth of the music scene in Fredericton; but soon, everyone will know about it — and appreciate it.
My guest today is Tim Rayne, a local film-maker who has been on a journey to document the community of musicians, venues, fans and others in something titled The Capital Project. While some parts of it have been screened in feature-film length, the real release begins today, with a large series of short videos released on YouTube. He joins me to talk about some of his inspirations (and persperations) and the shape of things to come over the next several months from the project.
Subscribe to The Capital Project on YouTube and share it on your social networks to show the world how cool our music scene is.

The Lunchbox Interview: Greg Everett (“Written in Marble, Buried in Earth: The Spirit of a Place”)
History is the story of people in a place, despite being often taught as a sequence of dates.
My guest today is Greg Everett, a local playwright. He’s been working on uncovering the stories within the Old Burial Ground in downtown Fredericton, and transforming his interpretation of the history of the place and the people buried there into a narrative play. He’s completed the primary writing on the work, which is titled “Written in Marble, Buried in Earth: The Spirit of a Place”, and will be giving a reading at the end of the month. Greg joins me to talk about the wealth of discovery found when looking at this local landmark, and how that can be turned into a ghostly narrative to understand, explore and evoke the past.
Greg will be giving his reading of the play along with an explanation of how it developed at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, May 31 at 7pm.

RFYL Episode – SolidEP068
On this week’s episode, everything is RANDOMLY BACKWARDS because why not. Also I am EXHAUSTED and I am randomly using CAPITAL LETTERS here. As a side note, you know those people who randomly capitalize A Random Letter In Every Sentence As They Try To Make A Point Online Because They Do Not Understand How Sentences Work?
Weird.
Anyway, NEW SINGLES, NEW ALBUMS, NEW NEW STUFF. NEW. Enjoy the show! I’m tired. Did I say that?

HitG 023: Players and Pints
Roleplaying games are often a private event, a story created for the entertainment of its players and not an audience. But improv is an inherently public event, so combining the two makes for lessons that both can learn.
In this episode, we’re talking to Jean-Michel Cliche and Tilley Jackson from Players and Pints, a live, improv-based Dungeons & Dragons game. Jean-Michel is the DM, and Tilley is one of the players (Emmeline the Bard). They’re wrapping up their live performances on May 6, but they have also podcasted all the episodes so far.

The Lunchbox Interview: Natasha MacLellan (TNB’s Artistic Director)
Theatre represents a unique opportunity to tell stories, from small to large from here and away, and it takes unique people to make that vision come to reality.
My guest today is Natasha MacLellan, the Artistic Director for Theatre New Brunswick (TNB). She jumped into the roll right away after arriving in Fredericton in November of last year, and has an enthusiasm for theatre that is on display in the slate of plays she’s selected for the company’s 2019-2020 season. She joined me to talk theatre passion, her extensive background in theatre, and her hopes for the new season. Follow the company on Facebook or Twitter as well to keep up-to-the-minute on plays, workshops and ongoing activities with TNB.

HitG 020: CAiNE
LARPing (or Live Action Role Playing) is a style of gaming where character sheets are less important than acting your character in the moment, and where staying in character is more important than strategic placement on a map.
Recently, Fredericton hosted the 2019 national gathering of CAiNE, the LARPing community based around the World Of Darkness games, including Vampire, Werewolf, Mage and Changeling. At this convention, players from numerous groups local to places across the country wove their stories together in to one epic conclusion.
We’re joined by several players from all over Canada (and from the UK) who converged in Fredericton to play for the weekend.
