Yesterday’s Weather is an internet sketch series that kept longtime friends and collaborators Jason McIntyre and Brennan Garnett entertained when they were isolating together during the Covid-19 pandemic. Creating over 150 videos which they shared to Instagram and Tik Tok.
The response to the series from both friends and strangers was enough to convince them to develop the series into a short film, which debuted at Fredericton’s Silverwave Film Festival this weekend, as a pilot to potentially develop it further into a tv series.
The 14 min film took home five awards from the festival’s awards including Excellence In Art Direction, Screenwriting and both male/female, or gender non-conforming, categories for Outstanding Supporting Performance.
We sat down with them to unpack the journey, starting with the creative chemistry to two share.
