UNB Art Centre presents: Design Works Wednesdays – Create at Home Series
Join the UNB Art Centre on Facebook for a series of FB LIVE workshops, Wednesdays 10:00 am – 11:00 am with our new ‘Create at Home’ series.

First Session begins April 29th.

Jody McLeary will be your teaching guide sharing a number of creative, fun, and easy skills for kids and kids at heart. With a passion for art and learning, Jody’s spunky style and unlimited creativity will introduce you to a whole new world of art exploration. All projects will be made from supplies you already have in your home. Not only can you stay at home, you can create at home!

Imagining the Green New Deal – Thursday, April 23, 8pm
Join the Council of Canadians Fredericton Chapter in imagining a Green New Deal. In this session we will look at a few bold proposals for real transformations in our response to COVID-19, and in our public services.

You’ll hear from George Nickerson from Fredericton Local 054 of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers about their campaign called Delivering Community Power, which proposes to vastly reshape the services of Canada Post to include postal banking, clean energy generation, seniors’ care, and a made-in-Canada electric fleet of vehicles.

Green Jobs Oshawa organizer Rebecca Keetch will address her group’s bold and urgent proposal to retool the mostly vacant GM factory in Oshawa, Ontario, so it can produce medical equipment immediately, and over the longer term transition to manufacturing electric vehicles.

We need to start imagining how we can rebuild our post-pandemic society so that it works for everyone and the planet. We can start now by supporting these two exciting proposals and start to think about creating our own bold proposals in our communities.

Crit Sesh: isolation edition – Wednesday, April 22?7:00 – 8:30pm
Weekly on Wednesday, until May 1, 2020
Connexion ARC is launching another block of dates in our series of Crit Nights, this time in virtual space. This twice-weekly series of critique sessions is intended to keep our artists connected in this time of physical distancing, whether you’re working on your professional practice or just making things to pass the time. We welcome artists at any stage in their career to network with fellow artists, practice delivering constructive criticism to others, and contextualize their work as a valuable contribution to the community – or just ask for support & encouragement. Although the session will be facilitated from a visual arts perspective, all creative disciplines are welcome to participate.

Please join us at 7pm on Wednesdays and 3pm on Sundays, for as long as necessary.

Join a research panel on how neoliberal austerity measures have placed workers and people receiving care in vulnerable situations. The precarious nature of care work and associated deadly consequences for care provisioning have come to the fore with the coronavirus crisis. What can be done to protect care workers and people in care today and post-pandemic?

Presented by the Canada Research Chair in Physical Culture and Social Life, the Canada Research Chair in Global and International Studies, and the NB Media Co-op.

40th Annual New Brunswick Highland Games and Scottish Festival Postponed
The three-day Scottish celebration has been rescheduled for July 23-25, 2021. The 14th annual Greater Moncton Highland Games & Scottish Festival, planned for June 20, was cancelled on April 2.

COVID-19 Update:

The province announced no new cases of COVID-19 yesterday afternoon, leaving the total number of cases at 118.
98 people have recovered from the virus.
Dr. Jennifer Russell, Premier Higgs and Prime Minister Trudeau offered condolences to the people of Nova Scotia.
18 people are dead after a series of shootings in Nova Scotia Sunday.
Fredericton Police are still looking for information about the homicide of Clark Greene.
Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has released the application form for their scholarship. Deadline is May 29th at 4:00 PM
