Employment Equity
Employment Equity Policy
- 1. The purpose of this policy is to achieve equality in the work place so that no person shall be denied employment opportunities or benefits for reasons unrelated to ability and, in the fulfilment of that goal, to correct the conditions of disadvantage in employment experienced by women, aboriginal people, persons with disabilities and persons who are, because of their race or colour, in a visible minority in Canada by giving effect to the principle that employment equity means more than treating persons in the same way but also requires special measures and the accommodation of differences.
- 2. Therefore, to ensure there be a proper balance of representation of the aforementioned groups in the paid and commissioned work force of CHSR FM, it is agreed as follows that:
- A. Hiring committees shall be designated by the Board for paid and commissioned posts and every reasonable effort should be made to ensure that these committees are representative of the aforementioned groups.
- B. CHSR FM shall hire according to the policy stated in paragraph one. If there is an imbalance, CHSR FM will endeavour to correct the imbalance.
- C. When a vacancy is to be filled, CHSR FM shall first make every reasonable effort to recruit competent candidates.
- D. When more than one candidate meets the specific qualifications for the position, a candidate from one of the aforementioned groups, if under-represented, shall be hired.
